How to Use HD Online Player for Optical Flares
Optical flares are a visual effect that simulates the scattering of light in a camera lens when it is exposed to a bright light source. They can add realism and drama to your photos and videos, especially when you are shooting against the sun or other bright lights. However, creating optical flares in post-production can be challenging and time-consuming, especially if you want to customize them to your liking.
That's where HD Online Player comes in handy. HD Online Player is a software that allows you to generate and animate realistic optical flares in After Effects with ease. You can choose from over 60 presets or create your own custom flares with 12 unique lens objects and 50 custom lens objects. You can also control the size, intensity, color, position, rotation, and movement of the flares with intuitive parameters and keyframes. You can even use AE lights to automatically trigger the flares and integrate them with your 3D scenes.
In this article, we will show you how to use HD Online Player for optical flares in a few simple steps.
Step 1: Download and Install HD Online Player
The first thing you need to do is to download and install HD Online Player on your computer. You can get it from this link[^1^]. It is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X. You will also need After Effects CS3 or later to use it.
Once you have downloaded the file, unzip it and run the installer. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. You will also need to enter your license key, which you can get from this link[^1^]. Make sure you have an internet connection when you activate your license.
Step 2: Create a New Composition in After Effects
Next, open After Effects and create a new composition. You can use any settings you want, but for this example, we will use a 1920x1080 resolution, 30 fps frame rate, and 10 seconds duration.
Then, import your footage or image that you want to add optical flares to. Drag it to the timeline and adjust its position and scale as needed.
Step 3: Add Optical Flares Effect
Now, go to the Effects menu and select Video Copilot > Optical Flares. This will apply the effect to a new solid layer above your footage. You can rename this layer as "Flares" for convenience.
To customize the effect, click on the Options button in the Effect Controls panel. This will open the Optical Flares interface, where you can see a preview of your flare and access various settings and features.
Step 4: Choose or Create Your Flare Preset
In the Optical Flares interface, you can choose from over 60 built-in presets that are inspired by real lens flares. You can browse them by clicking on the Preset Browser button at the top left corner. You can also see a live preview of each preset by hovering over it with your mouse cursor.
To apply a preset, simply click on it and then click OK. You can also tweak the preset by changing its parameters in the Lens Objects panel on the right side. Here, you can add, remove, or edit individual elements of the flare, such as iris shapes, streaks, glows, rings, etc. You can also adjust their size, brightness, color, rotation, position, etc.
If you want to create your own custom flare from scratch, you can click on the Clear All button at the bottom right corner of the Lens Objects panel. This will remove all the elements of the current flare and allow you to start fresh. You can then add new elements by clicking on the Add New Object button at the top right corner of the panel. You can choose from 12 unique lens objects and 50 custom lens objects that are included in HD Online Player.
Step 5: Animate Your Flare
Once you have chosen or created your flare preset, you can animate it using keyframes or expressions. To do this, go back to the Effect Controls panel in After Effects and expand the Optical Flares effect. Here, you will see several parameters that control the behavior of your flare.
